In an article in this week’s Tucson Weekly, Rosemont Copper Company is called to task for misrepresenting the support of community groups and organizations on its website.
The article identified several high profile organizations that are listed by Rosemont as “partners” in its effort to develop a massive open-pit copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains on the Coronado National Forest south of Tucson.
However, when contacted by the Tucson Weekly, the organizations and groups listed by Rosemont as partners “almost without exception” had no opinion on the mine and some stated they had no connection with the company “whatsoever”.
This latest revelation in deceptive public relations follows a string of other unethical PR practices by Rosemont that are highlighted in the article.
AUGUSTA RESOURCES ARE FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL AS THEIR MEAGRE SUPPLY OF CASH RUNS OUT . JUNIOR RESOURCE COMPANIES LIKE AUGUSTA ARE ALL ABOUT SHOW , SPECULATION AND PROMOTION . THEY MANIPULATE THE RULES AND REGULATIONS WITH THE HELP OF A TEAM OF WELL PAID LAWYERS AND FLASHY PR FIRMS . POLITICIANS BUY VOTES AND AUGUSTA IS SIMILARLY TRYING TO BUY SUPPORT FROM THE PUBLIC . ETHICS , HONESTY , TRANSPARENCY AND CREDIBILITY DO NOT EVEN ENTER THE PICTURE . TRUE ” PARTNERSHIPS ” ARE LEGALLY DEFINED BY WRITTEN AGREEMENTS SPELLING OUT TERMS AND CONDITIONS . THE ” PARTNERSHIP ” RELATIONSHIPS LISTED BY AUGUSTA ARE BOGUS AT BEST . THE RECIPIENTS OF AUGUST’S DONATIONS ACCEPTED THE MONEY IN GOOD FAITH AND PROBABLY DID NOT REALIZE THAT THEY WERE BEING USED . PROVIDING FINANCIAL BENEFITS IN THE FORM OF SCHOLARSHIPS , SPONSORSHIPS , CHARITABLE DONATIONS , ETC IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO PROVIDED IT IS DONE IN GOOD FAITH AND A FULL DISCLOSURE OF INTENT TO THE RECIPIENT . THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH AUGUSTA . WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH PEOPLE THAT LACK ANY CONSCIENCE , YOU CAN EXPECT ANYTHING . AUGUSTA IS TRYING TO FLY UNDER THE RADAR AND AVOID BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE SECURITIES AUTHORITIES IN CANADA AND THE US .
